Movie Review: Spiderman 3

I'll put it out right at the top of this review -- I'm not a big Spiderman fan. The first two movies were OK; they just weren't something I'd go out of my way to see again. The fighting parts are always pretty good from a "guy" standpoint, but Peter Parker always seemed too whiny, and to be honest I don't really think that Kirsten Dunst is all that hot.

Overall, I was pleasantly surprised by this 3rd chapter of Spiderman. Without giving too much away, the best part was the humor that they added; I especially liked the undereye mascara that "dark" Peter Parker wore -- it reminded me of the Gothkids in one of my favorite South Park episodes. The special effects were a lot better than in the first two movies; you didn't look at it and say, "Hey, I can almost see the blue screen". On the minus side, I really didn't need to ponder over the existential angst of the bad guys; I just wanted them to destroy things in interesting ways. I was about to give this movie a "4" until the last 10 minutes, but all the anti-climactic mushy stuff knocked it down a point. Bottom line: I give this movie three geeky superheroes out of five.

I saw Spiderman 3 last night myself. I am a huge Spidey fan. As such, and speaking as an "expert", this was an awesome movie. Tobey McGuire plays the part of Peter/Spidey to the "T". I didn't think he was whiney. Remember Peter Parker is a geeky science major, so he's not going to be as "manly" as we think a hero should be, in our submarine sailor reckoning of heroic manliness. And yet, Peter always did the right thing, and his personal sense of integrity always won out in the end. He did the right thing no matter the cost. Like when he brought Harry to the hospital, and when he shunned the black suit.

Kirsten Dunst is an awesome Mary Jane, I think. I can't imagine any other young Hollywood actress playing the "down-to-earth girl next door" as convincingly as Kirsten does. Can you?

The plot was good, and the sublots were as well, all woven together quite artfully. The only part of the movie I would done differently, if I were the writer/director, is I would've provided some more motivation for him to rip off the black suit. THere just didn't seem to be enough there for me, but other than that it was excellently done on all parts. Even the venerable Stan Lee got a say. I didn't mind the sad ending. It fits into the Spiderman world where not everything is a happy ending. Just like real life.

I give this movie 4.785 wallcrawling webslinging wonders out of 5.

I saw The Spider Man 3 movie as well last night. But Did not enjoy the movie as much as you guys did. You see the movie in my opinion was too long for such a stupid plot. The movie would hve been a great one if the quater to three hour movie was maybe a two hour one. Did we really needGwen Stacey in it? Did we really need to show Peters stalker like attitude over mary Jane (since it doesnt even tie up what happens between them in the end)?
Now on to the Villians. The Sandman was by far the best super villian in any movie I have ever said. That said Spidey is the whinest super hero i have ever seen. Venom on the other hand had a lot of potentail. I Mean cool "bad ass" spider with acid like spit and jagged pushed out maw would be cool right? Wrong in this movie he was reresented as just being basically spiderman. He was accuarly shorter than spider man and is supposed to be around 7 feet tall. not to mention the 7 yearold humor that was thrown around like monkeys throw poop ( poop is translated as spider man 3). I mean I luaghed about twice in the whole 3 hours. Once when he hit Mary Jane and Second when somebody in the theater yelled finally at the end.
Overall The Movie Sucked hrdcore. If it were baseball it would have hit more balls than a midget hooker. I Give This Dumb Movie a 2 out of 5.

I liked the Spiderman comics of nearly a half century ago, when I was a boy. Spiderman was a wisecracking, flippantly cynical teenager. His alter ego, Peter parker got blessdly few frames.

The movies have been disappointing. Most of the superhero movies are.

I liked Hellboy. I wish they'd make another one of those.

I read this post a few days ago, and your 3 out of 5 is not helping my already bad case of fence-sitting about this film. LOL.

I love Spidey, but the bottom line question really comes down to this: Is it worth dropping $10 to sit through 2-3 hours of Kirsten Dunst? hmmmmm? Pray, tell!
