Bad Boys Race Our Young Girls...

Some people are claiming this picture came from an old ET 3&2 Rate Training Manual:

Can anyone confirm? If it didn't come from there, it should have. What are your favorite memories of official Navy training publications (or -- and I hesitate to bring this up for obvious reasons -- "A" School mnemonics you still remember)?

  1. I don't remember ever seeing it before (prior surface ET), anywhere - going through the NEETS modules just in case I overlooked it somehow...

  2. Violet sure was premiscuous. She survives in the pump curve mnemonic for Volume/Head/Power as Violet's Hairy ..... is as easy as 1, 2, 3.

  3. affirmative... Saw it, however, it is much more recent.. The volt and AMP were added.. What you have there is what was going to go on after DADT was struck down.. The illustration should now make sense.

The old QM3 rate training manual used to make reference to the Japanese Navigatior named "HOMOTO". He was drawn with the eyes, buck teeth and every thing. It was used to remind everyone doing celestial observations that if HO(Height Obeserved of a Celectial body) was MOre than the line should be drawn TOwards. HOMOTO. The other one was "Can True Virgins Vote Twice at Elections" refering to compass variation both mag and true. Sorry to say those days are in the past.

  15. FACE and "Every Good Boy Does Fine". Wait a moment; those are mnemonics for notes on the spaces and lines of a music staff. Sorry - wrong blog for that. Here's a relative one. "MOON BARS". This was a mnemonic for protective features on motor generator at the S5G prototype in Idaho Falls. During my qual board at the prototype they asked me about the SSMG's. I wrote "MOON BARS" on the blackboard and started my spiel. About when I got to the "N" my brain unclutched. I did not have a clue what the "B" stood for. Fortunately for me, the board assumed I knew what I was talking about and started in on the next question.

  29. The corollary to the corollary to ret anav's post:

When all three lights I see ahead,
I turn to Starboard and show my Red.
Green to Green, Red to Red:
    Perfect safety; go ahead.
But if to Starboard Red appear,
It is my duty to keep clear:
To act as judgment says is proper,
To Port or Starboard, Back or Stop her.
And if upon my Port is seen
A steamer's Starboard light of Green:
I hold my course and watch to see
That Green to Port keeps clear of me.
Both in safety and in doubt
Always keep a good look out.
In danger, with no room to turn,
Ease her, Stop her, Go Astern.
