Happy Fourth Of July!

In celebration of our Independence Day, The Greeneville (TN) Sun is putting out a special 40 page supplement about USS Greeneville (SSN 772). Now that's a good submarine / namesake city relationship!

  1. I wonder if anybody thought the title "Greeneville Rising" is ironic considering the boat's past difficulties coming shallow.

Still, I admire their actions as a virtual shit screen for all boats on the PH waterfront for most of 2001. "Fried an SSMG? Well... we gotta go back and flog Greeneville some more, so carry on and don't do it again."

  2. Any comment about the recent reopening of investigation into the sinking of a French Trawler in 2004?

  3. Greeneville is one of the best "Little Cities" to host a boat. The people there really love the crew, and there are a host of things they are willing to do to help. Much better than other namesakes like Olympia, which wouldn't even let their boat dock in the city because it is nuclear.

  4. Watched the fire works from the "finger" pier in pearl last night. Amazing, they were lighting off over 300 fireworks 15 yards from a boat with open vls tubes....Happy fourth of July everyone! RIMPAC 2010 here we come! As our captain said, "lets go out and sink the fleet!"

  5. No longer restricted to talk on the midwatch. The answer to the question - a 100' sub can carry enough drugs to make it worth while.

I hope they devoted 20 pages to field day descriptions.
