"Captured Cody" -- One Year Later

Going through my archives, I realized that today is the one year anniversary of the "Captured Cody" saga: a jihadi website claimed that they had captured an American soldier, and put up pictures of the "soldier" to prove it. The media mostly ran with the story, until some people pointed out that the uniform was all wrong, and that our conventional forces guys don't wear face paint in Iraq. It turned out that the jihadis had taken pictures of a doll and posted it.

What interested me during this whole kerfuffle was how the bloggers were about 2 hours ahead of the mainstream media in picking up on the hoax. Hopefully the media will realize that they need to get more people who have a clue about the military into their organizations.

Going deep...
