Happy Independence Day!

Have a great day with the thanks of a (mostly) grateful nation.

They couldn't get a shot of the actual SSN, and took one of the other North Carolina (BB-55)?
Incongruous captions make me smile.

George Orwell said it best..."we sleep soundly in our beds because rough men stand ready in the night to visit violence on those who would do us harm."
Thanks to all the brave men and women who took it upon themselves to make a difference.

Don the Baptist,
By what calibrated instrument does one measure the gratefulness of his compatriots?

A few of the fireworks at Pearl Harbor misfired & didn't get enough altitude - they ended up hitting the sails of the Columbia & Topeka who were moored at the pier everything was launched from. Nobody was hurt & nothing was damaged but it certainly made for bonus entertainment watching them go off & watching the topside watches skitter around from one side of the sail to the other.

That's a helluva way to break the monotony of topside watch! :)
