Happy Halloween!
Halloween is one of my favorite holidays, and now I have an even better reason to like it -- a brand new niece. Happy Birthday Allie Grace Ogren, the newest resident of Ashland, Nebraska!
As is my norm, I did my best to depress property values in the neighborhood with a garish display of gaudy inflatables. Here's the result (the new ones were my 25th wedding anniversary gifts from my wife, who understands priorities):
Unfortunately, it was windy and rainy this year, so discretion won out over valor and I didn't install the roof inflatable like I normally do. I really need a bigger yard, because I didn't have room to install the haunted pirate ship.

That should be an excellent attraction for little kiddies!
I am in trouble with the wife due to this pagan holiday. Planted new grass near our entrance.
Discovered why no little kids were ringing our bell to trick or treat: kids don't like to get wet when the sprinkler is left on because you forgot to cut off the water.
Never thought of it before.

My sister used to live in Asland, that's quite the little po'dunk town. Her ex-husband was the deputy sheriff there.

So your house points North, eh?

Gawd I hate inflatables! Where is my pellet gun?

How original! Depressing property values to obtain a bigger yard.
P.S. How 'bout a haunted pirate sub?

So the cat got out of standing Topside watch last night huh? Don't know how fair that is to the rest of the crew below...Lol.
Great display there Joel, and Congrats on the newest addition to your family.

love it. have you seen the three-tiered pumpkins? they stand at least 10ft tall. If I had a yard, that would be in it.

Huh, I'm surprised Joel has posted anything political yet. The leftist democrats are awfully quiet this morning. Usually Joel is bounding with political speak at times like these.

I ended up kind of getting fed up with politics when the Democrat I was supporting in the only competitive race here in Idaho went incredibly negative with some race-baiting ads, implied that his opponent's daughter was in danger of being a victim of incest, and refused to answer questions from the press.

Re. politics: I think the real story is just how broken the overall system is.
Until a "None Of The Above" (NOTA) slot is allocated for every election, we're all going to have to continue to listen to the latest of two parties, maybe three at the max, crow about how "they" have a mandate, whereas in fact the public had no other credible alternative, AND no way to register the complaint that they didn't want either candidate in charge.
The people deserve the right to withhold consent, or we live in a "dictatorship of two."
And guess what...? We do.

@ Running In Place 1735: I'm with you. The two candidates for governor here in Georgia were useless choices. I voted Libertarian as a 'protest' vote simply because there was no viable option. Lot of good it will do. We are broken, and yes, I'd like to see a NOTA option too. God, how I hate politics.

Stupid will not consider that punishment as fair action.

This won't really have effect, I consider like this.
