A True Statement
From an E-mail I got from a writer for a national publication:
"You've got the best sub commenters on the web..."
I agree with him 100%. Thanks to everyone who contributes worthwhile comments and makes this blog what it is.
Keeping the blogosphere posted on the goings on of the world of submarines since late 2004... and mocking and belittling general foolishness wherever it may be found. Idaho's first and foremost submarine blog. (If you don't like something on this blog, please E-mail me; don't call me at home.)

It's because we're smart..
We're really smart....
We're damn'd smart....
Or are we too damn'd smart?

I'm with Duck on that one-- my money is on Tom Ricks.
And Duck: I've been following the, ummm, discourse over on CDR Salamander. I agree with you 100%. I hate idealogues and zealots.
OK, now the contrarian comment: if a national publication author trolls this blog, who else does? Hmmmm.... Loose lips sink ships! SILENT Service!

I gotta say something here. Way off topic, but comes up on every thread so maybe not: why all the anon commenters? It's easy to get a handle, it's easy to have several (I don't), it's as easy to cover your tracks with a nom de plume as it is as anon.
Prob is, can't sort one anon from another - it's an amorphous mess to keep you cats straight.
A plaintive plea: if you're gonna post comments here, use an identifying moniker.

P.S You sure hate the uniform talk.

I tag my posts but I'm not signing up for anything.
Commenting on blogs for me is like porn. Entertaining but not something I'd necessarily want my Mom/Wife/CO to know all about.

So you're saying your CO was unaware of the movies in the goat locker? Your Mom? Ewwww! But I agree. You can put the STSC as the Name/URL though. Don't worry, your CO knows who you are anyway. It's in the weekly report he gets from NIS. ;)

Ditto Rubber Ducky re: the anons. Grow a dick and ID yourself in some fashion.

The Duck has a good point here.
As long as we don't say anything too "naughty" then there shouldn't be a problem posing personal identification.

In the aggregate, this website hurts the the sub force more than it helps becuase it provides a widely read forum for anyone to say whatever they want. I love Bubblehead but this website is out of control.

"In the aggregate, this website hurts the the sub force more than it helps becuase it provides a widely read forum for anyone to say whatever they want."
In other words, do what the MAN says and let him keep you down. "The sub force is great and nothing bad ever happens" unless people are allowed a forum to speak freely.

Thank you Joel for having a place where some open discussion can take place. A very American thing. If you are not in a position to talk truth to power, blogs and op-eds are the next best thing.

OK - the curtain is slightly raised - I got a name now!

When I first started this blog, I said one of the things I wanted to do was correct any misconceptions about submarines that appear in the press; I think we've done a pretty good job at that. As far as whether or not this website is good for the Sub Force, I think that it's up for each individual to come to their own conclusion.

congratulations. I haven't been here in awhile; good to see you are not only still around but doing well.
I owe you a round of something...but applause will have to do.
Well Done!
I am Cricket...
