Battery well on a 688, otherwise known as a great place to loose your TLD.

xopher wins! That was me in the battery well on Topeka back in about 1992.

When I looked at the picture, it brought back memories of the battery well on Jefferson City and Scranton. Unfortunately, I did not log on soon enough to win...

It's OK, bullnav; you can still feel the sense of accomplishment.

Thanks Bubblehead for the feeling of accomplishment. Remember being the nub O-ganger and all you could do were battery Charging Line-ups.

That's not duct tape, that's a kewl sole design from the early 90s, man... I was cutting edge when it came to dork fashion.

Internal monologue:
Aw crap! Nub, don't rub your eye like that! And quit asking "why do my fingers feel soapy"?
Man, I ruined another poopy suit.

On my first boat we had a contest to pay the XO to clean a space. Agang had collected almost 80 bucks to have the XO clean the Diesel Space on our little 637. Just about that time, our leading first came off of leave and blew a gasket. He said that the XO would only have to clean the space once and after that he would always inspect it during field days and no mater how clean it was, it would not be as clean as he did it. Seeing the wisdom in this, we placed it all on the IC Divisions quest to get the XO to clean the Battery Well and sure enough, they could never get it as clean as the XO did.

Well, it ain't back aft, that's for sure. :) No offense, but the battery well was easy. Try getting onto that ledge outboard of the main condensers. Not the walkway, outboard and up from there, on top of the tank.

What a great place to grab some shut-eye during another b.s. boat 'sparkle'. Thanks E-DIV for hooking a SMAG up.
