USS Memphis In South Florida For Fleet Week
USS Memphis (SSN 691) got the Good Deal this year; they got picked to go to Fleet Week in Fort Lauderdale. Of course, with every Good Deal comes some annoying PR work -- Memphis had to do a media underway prior to pulling in. The report that came out of it was pretty good, though; you can check out the video here, which includes the reporter trying to keep his feet during a fairly tame up-angle.
I'm predicting the crew of the Memphis will have lots of good safe fun, and they won't have the same problem one of the crewmembers from USS Hampton had last year during the Fort Lauderdale Fleet Week. (I'm sure they've all been briefed and GMT'd to death about not setting fire to any yachts.)

Hardest thing to do and one of the most worthy when dealing with media:
Get youse a copy of the B roll from the guy with the video camera. It's amazing what you can do with that later for retirements and web pages and so forth.

I think she's at Mayport for today. I saw her in last week, and an SSN pulled in today.

I remember the last time I was in Florida on the Memphis, we ran into one of the largest continents on plant Earth. Now that was entertaining. We had crewmembers that were successful in stealing yachts, unsuccessful in stealing small boats, muggings (it really hurts to be hit on the head with a bottle), and a phenomenal time at The ELBOW Room - LONG LIVE THE ELBOW ROOM.
KISS THE FISH!
