Royal Navy Submarine Recruiting Ad

Check out this submarine recruiting advertisement from the Royal Navy:

To me, this seems just as effective as what we've been doing -- and much more effective than the old "E-3 pulls his fancy car right up to the pier gate" ads we were doing a few years ago.

"Sometimes I just switch it off and on again"

Reminds me of a story about the Electrical Engineer, Mechanical Engineer, Chemical Engineer and Computer Engineer travelling across the desert in a rental car when the car's engine suddenly starts making noises.

"Sounds like the cable to one of the plugs has parted," said the EE, "it's not getting fire to all the plugs."

"No," chimed in the ME, "the timing belt slipped and the piston compression is out of sync with the valves."

"You've both got it wrong," replied the ChemE, " we got some bad gas back there and we're experiencing incomplete and erratic combustion."

The other three look at the silent Computer Engineer, who eventially says "well, maybe if we stop the car, get out and then back in it will be OK when we restart it."

i really hate our whole recruiting philosophy. i think i'm representative of most of my peers when i say that money and vocational training are nowhere near as important to me as job satisfaction and pride. i didnt join the navy to accelerate my life. i want to be in the fight and 'get some.'
