New Undersea Warfare Magazine Is Out!

(Intel Source: The Sub Report) The eagerly awaited Spring 2005 issue of Undersea Warfare magazine has come out -- while it's still spring! (They're getting better over at N77.) Among the articles are: a report of the commissioning of the good ship Jimmy Carter, the Navy's UUV Master Plan, an interesting article on relatively unknown Spanish submarine design pioneer NarcĂs Monturiol, and an account of USS Alexandria's recent "around the world" deployment.
(I personally never made it all the way around the world during my Navy time; I lack just under 30 degrees longitude, or a trip from Poland to Bahrain, to complete my personal circumnavigation. Those other 330 degrees, though, I've done twice -- actually, four times, if you count the coming and going.)

Nice articles. Had not heard of Monturiol before, and even PBS's NOVA forgot to mention him its SUBMARINE HISTORY TIMELINE, although it does mention the Rev. Garrett, designer of the Resurgam. http://www.submarine-history.com/NOVAtwo.htm

The collateral duty lieutenant that does it got changed out--one reason for the delay was that the job got gapped for a bit IIRC.

One of the guys I went to SOAC with was the first "editor"; back then it was a post-DH collateral duty...
