And Now It Has A Name
I discussed earlier (here and here) some of my thoughts on the new Iranian mini-subs. It looks like they finally decided to name it -- what seems to be the first of the "Ghadir"-class boats is apparently named "Nahang", meaning "whale".
Oh, and in the link, where it says Iran has "up to six Russian-built SSK or SSI Kilo-class diesel submarines"... I suppose that "three" could be what they mean with the euphemism "up to six", or, more likely, the writer doesn't know the difference between a Kilo and a mini-sub.
Update 2310 08 March: According to this MEMRI transcript of an Iranian TV report, the sub is actually named "Nahang 1".
Interestingly, the second USS Wahoo (SS 565) was supposed to be given to Iran and re-named "Nahang" in the late 70s, until the Iranian Revolution scotched those plans.

These idiots misnamed their boat class. It is not their "Whale", but their "Wail".
Qu'ran [11:106] As for the miserable ones, they will be in Hell, wherein they sigh and wail.
To them, the Submariners' Hymn!
